About Me

I am an architectural professional interested in using design for the public good. I like to specialize in sustainability and keep a Phius CPHC accredidation. I have other design related hobbies that revolve around reusing old parts to make new things from electronics to furniture. If you would like to drop me a line, please see my contact page.

About This Website

This website is a portfolio to present my work and is built by me in HTML. While this website is a portfolio to show of physical work, the website itself is intended to be a part of the portfolio. I always enjoy learning new skills or trying new things.

While this website may appear to be nostalgic of older websites from earlier decades (it is afterall, made in HTML), that's not the point. I believe in always learning new things and this website is an example of that. Making a website in this way provides full control. Anyone can use squarespace, wordpress, or any number of tools to make websites, but many of them come off as same and rarely diverge from their original template. By building a website from scratch, the website is a more complete window into someone's design philosphy.

In addition having to full design control, this website is also leaner. Modern websites are full of cookies, ads, trackers, and more. This makes websites bulkier and slows down web browsing. The website you are looking at now is simply a collection of files, not unlike opening files on your home computer. In an age where energy conservation is critical, I beleive how we build our websites plays an important role. Think of the energy it takes to load a larger, modern website versus this one. A great example of a truly lean website designed around energy constraints (and the inspiration to make this one) is the Low Tech Magazine. I hope this inspires you to think about how you make your own website.
